Mental Health Champion – Matt Cooke
Who are you?
I’m Matt, I joined Dyce about 3 months ago as the Digital Development Manager. I’m married with a little 4-year-old boy called Arthur, in my spare time I like to get involved with Football and Golf. I am also a big fan of holidays and try to get away a few times a year.
Why do you feel mental health is important?
I think mental health is important as when you have a good state of mind it makes life not only easier for yourself but for those around you. It improves our moods, anxiety levels and our relationships. I feel like mental health is declining in the UK, especially amongst the younger generation, and I would like to make a little difference in the workplace to support my colleagues as I view our workplace like family.
Why do you think you are suited to be a mental health champion?
I feel that I am suited to be a mental health champion as I’m a good listener and I am open to supporting people. I would also like to think that although I haven’t been with the business for a long period that my colleagues would feel they can reach out to me in confidence. Over the last 40 years I have also seen and been through a lot of tough situations which I feel will aid me in providing extra levels of support and advice to anyone who requires it.
